Our learning this half term

We have had a fantastic start to the Spring Term in Reception!

In English we have been learning all about people who help us. We have read lots of nonfiction books and learnt lots of facts all about the different jobs people do to help us.

We also had a very special visit from some police officers who told us all about their job and what they do to keep us safe. We looked at some of their equipment that they use, tried on their police uniforms and we even got to see a real police car with its siren on!

In maths we have been exploring numbers and their composition. We discussed how there are lots of different parts of a whole number and found all the different ways we could show this. We then took this learning outside and created a tens frame using crates and loose parts objects.

We have been very interested in the change in season and have been investigating how the cold weather effects our environment. We explored ice and discussed what can cause water to freeze as well as what may cause ice to melt.

We also had lots of fun learning outside in the snow!
