Sensational Spring Term
Date: 13th Feb 2025 @ 12:10pm
We have had a very exciting term, which was kicked off with a trip to Robin Wood. The children showed bravery, tenacity and maturity on this 3 day residential. They experienced the highs of the giant swing, the depths of the caves and the terror of the piranha pool.
We have also been learning lots in our maths and English. In maths we have covered statistics, angles, converting measurements, perimeter, area and time! The children have been focused and have shown great concentration as we begin to prepare ourselves for our SATs tests. Perhaps your child could show you some of their learning on Teams or you could practice some maths with them on Sats Companion or Sumdog.
Year 6 have been introduced to Maia in the novel 'Journey to the River Sea' this term. The children wrote a diary account as Maia, detailing the trials and tribulations she encountered on her move from England to Brazil. Also, in the last few weeks, we have been exlporing the poetry of John Agard in 'The Rainmaker Danced'. The children have thrown themsleves into their English learning which has resulted in some fantastic pieces of writing.
Pues, vamos a hablar sobre Argentina ahora! The children in year 6 have been learning about Argentina in geography this term. They have located Argentina on a map of South America, as well as identifying the other countries that make up this continent. They have researched and made a video on the geographical features found in Argentina. This learning will continue into next term.
We have also compeleted our DT this term, which has been focused on mastering the art of weaving. The year 6 children have done a fantastic job of using their looms to weave an intricate pattern.
We look forward to more learning next term!
