Year 3 - Maya WOW day

Year 3 had a tasty start to our new topic all about the ancient Maya! The Maya were the first to turn the cacao plant into chocolate and we are so glad that they did! We used our senses and knowledge of how chocolate is made to think about the ingredients in each type of chocolate we tried. ​

We made colourful Maya masks which were important to the people in the ancient civilisation. They wore them to many important events and decorated them beautifully. Do you like our designs?​

We did a lot of research to find out fantastic facts to share with our class. We also tried to recreate some of their writing by using their hieroglyphs to write our names.
